Why should I regularly have my denture checked?

During regular monitoring problems can be prevented and, if necessary, the fit (rebasing) can be adjusted. This is especially important if the teeth are extracted recently.
With a full denture your jaws shrink over time. Usually, the lower jaw shrinks faster than the upper jaw. This causes the denture to loosen or creating problems. If your denture is older than 5 to 7 years, a replacement of the denture may be needed.
